The Process Gap: Conventional urban property management allows thousands of vacant, underutilized Land Bank parcels to sit as neighborhood deficits, draining municipal budgets and driving environmental degradation. Concurrently, local artists lack high-visibility public spaces to showcase raw-material installations, while civic departments discard natural resources that could anchor community wealth.
Where We Work: Rooted at our flagship site at 3400 East 72nd Street, expanding through Land Banks business, ideal corner, and conversation properties within Kansas City, Missouri. (Homesteading and Housing Authority properties included)
When We Deploy: Site maintenance and artistic installations run continuously, anchored by monthly community events and designated Corporate Impact Tuesdays.
Our Community Impact: We turned a vacant property into "A Lot of Hope". By proving that urban commercial parcels can eliminate mowing needs, avoid hundreds of pounds of annual CO₂ emissions, and generate hyper-local revenue for neighborhood reinvestment, we create a repeatable model for place-based ecological pride across Kansas City.

BA1 AIM STATEMENT

Design a framework to scale our flagship zero-mowing model from 1 baseline site to 3–5 new business-zoned, corner, and/or conservation lots owned by Land Bank, establishing a city-wide public art and ecological movement that demonstrates the liberating power of art, nature, and neighborhoods.

Site Criteria Restrictions:

Confine all new property acquisitions strictly to business-zoned, corner lots, or conservation parcels under 4 acres chosen from the municipal Land Bank repository to ensure maximum public visibility and zero long-term mowing maintenance.

Material & Artist Collaboration:

Partner with local Kansas City artists to design land installations using primarily found raw materials, natural resources, and used items obtained.

Corporate Impact Tuesdays:

Corporate and organizational volunteer workdays on Tuesdays.

The Process Gap: Conventional urban development triggers neighborhood displacement while treating vital community leadership as unpaid labor. Grassroots organizations face intense administrative capacity constraints trying to deliver consistent basic-needs resources, distribute property surveys, and map vacant lots manually without automated administrative tools.
Where We Work: Rooted deeply in the West Side of District 5 and all of District 3, expanding outward to the East Side of District 4 and the greater Kansas City, Missouri metro area.
When We Deploy: Monthly basic needs communications, seasonal distributions, and bi-monthly resident check-ins executed continuously, anchored by the Fall 2026 open enrollment cohort.
Our Community Impact: We shift the poverty narrative from a personal failure to a structural solution. By validating civic labor through the N.E.C. Civic ID Card, keeping families securely in place, and piloting a repeatable, automated model, we create a national, open-source blueprint to dismantle systemic redlining.

Who We Serve: Vulnerable senior homeowners, minority property/business owners, and distressed city spaces on the West Side of District 5 and within District 3 of Kansas City, Missouri.
The Process Gap: Conventional urban land care relies heavily on disruptive, fossil-fueled tools and aggressive short-cropping practices that strip soil health. Marginalized property owners lack accessible, affordable alternatives, while local independent landscapers face cost barriers to testing clean battery equipment. Concurrently, civic-minded retirees (65+) lack structured local opportunities to offer their skills toward neighborhood beautification.
Where We Work: High-priority residential blocks, commercial storefronts, and public spaces across KCMO Districts 3 and 5.
When We Deploy: Weekly for up to 2 hours per property.
Our Community Impact: Continued use of gas equipment drives local environmental degradation, while rising upkeep costs increase household burdens. Without a bridging mechanism like paid stipends and intentional 65+ senior volunteer placement, local land stewardship remains disconnected, leaving community properties vulnerable to ecological and aesthetic decline.
